Spanish municipalities approve new municipal swimming pool projects
Local governments in Spain have approved new municipal swimming pool projects in Alcalá and Chiclana.
In Alcalá, the Local Government Board has authorized the contracting of works for a new summer pool in Cabeza Hermosa. The project will be built on a 6,750 square meter plot and will include two buildings for changing rooms and a bar, landscaped areas, and shaded zones. The complex is designed to be accessible via private vehicle and the Alcalá tram. Construction is expected to begin in November.
In Chiclana, the Local Government Board approved the tender process for a new municipal pool in La Longuera. The project has a base tender budget of approximately 6.4 million euros, funded in part by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the 2021-2027 programming period. Once works are awarded, they must be completed within a maximum of 24 months. The facility will include an indoor pool for year-round use, a leisure park, green spaces, a calisthenics park, and photovoltaic canopies.
