Spanish municipalities enhance beach safety and rescue capabilities
Spanish municipalities are implementing various measures to enhance beach safety and emergency response during the summer season.
In Camposoto, the local government reported that the lifeguard service, managed by Cruz Roja, has recorded 308 medical assistances and three evacuations through August 16, but zero swimmer rescues. The service has also provided 461 preventive actions and 290 social assistance interventions, including support for people with disabilities and the use of amphibious chairs.
Meanwhile, the municipality of Pájara has introduced the SEABOB Rescue device at La Pared beach. This electric, eco-friendly technology allows lifeguards to reach incidents faster, with the ability to dive up to 40 meters deep and transport unconscious individuals safely. The device reaches speeds of 20 kilometers per hour and marks the first time such technology has been utilized for maritime emergencies in Fuerteventura.
