Spanish municipalities expand youth services and programming

Municipalities in Spain are expanding initiatives and resources dedicated to youth development and support.

In Igualada, the Department of Youth reported that over 500 adolescents participated in summer activities. Key programs included Focus Jove, a new center for adolescents that reached full capacity, and Casal Electra, an urban art program. Other initiatives included RefresCAT, which combined leisure with the promotion of the Catalan language.

In Getxo, the municipal youth office, Gaztebulegoa, has increased its resources to provide better guidance on employment, housing, emancipation, and entrepreneurship. The city has released a new information guide to help young people access services such as legal advice through the Prest! program, which assists individuals aged 16 to 30 with housing contracts and other legal inquiries.
