Spanish municipalities implement safety measures for local festivals

Municipalities in Spain are implementing safety measures and prevention strategies during local festivals to combat gender-based violence and chemical submission.

Azuqueca de Henares is launching its ‘Diversión sin agresión’ campaign, featuring a ‘Punto Violeta’ service operating from September 18 to 27. A key initiative includes the free distribution of 2,000 rapid testing bracelets designed to detect narcotics in drinks. The service will provide psychological support and citizen prevention dynamics, supported by a mobile unit and extended nighttime bus services.

In Écija, the local government has also deployed a ‘Punto Violeta’ at the fairgrounds to prevent harassment and gender-based aggression. Managed by Educolandia, the station will be staffed by psychologists and social educators from 9:00 PM to 2:00 AM. The team will conduct educational activities regarding consent and distribute informative materials, including bracelets featuring the Andalusian Institute of Women’s helpline.
