Spanish municipalities launch local commerce promotion programmes
The Emgrobes association in O Grove, Galicia, has started a new edition of the "Come, compra, ama O Grove" campaign, funded by the Xunta de Galicia. The five‑month programme, running until July, involves more than 90 local shops and restaurants. Customers who make purchases receive a ticket with an alphanumeric code that can be registered online to win part of the €1,500 in cash vouchers, with direct prizes of €50 and €100.
In Barakaldo, the city council has opened a €5,000 subsidy line to support businesses that install Basque‑language signage. Establishments that carry out sign work between 1 Nov 2025 and 31 Oct 2026 can apply for a grant covering 25‑50 % of the costs, with applications due by 31 Oct. The measure aims to increase the visibility of Euskara in the public commercial space.
