Spanish municipalities launch participatory budgeting processes
Municipalities in Spain have launched processes for participatory budgeting to involve citizens in local decision-making.
In Benidorm, voting has opened for 45 proposals submitted for the 2027 participatory budget. Residents aged 18 and over can vote both in person at the City Council or municipal administrative extensions, and electronically via the official platform. The proposals cover various sectors, including urbanism, mobility, tourism, education, and the environment.
In Cáceres, the city council has opened a period for residents and local entities to submit proposals for the 2027 General Municipal Budget. The submission window is open for ten business days, ending on October 19, 2026. Contributions can be made through the municipal electronic office, in person at the Municipal Registry, or via email.
