Spanish municipalities prepare for 2026 local festivities

Municipalities in Spain are preparing for their 2026 festivities with specific security and ceremonial plans.

In Miguelturra, Mayor Luis Ramón Mohíno has presented a comprehensive security coordination document for the upcoming Ferias y Fiestas. The plan focuses on resident well-being and includes regulated hospitality hours. Closing times have been extended to 04:00 on September 4 and 5, and to 06:00 on September 7, 11, and 12. The local government has also prohibited the use of outdoor music equipment or DJs without specific licenses to prevent public order issues. Special security reinforcements, including Local Police and private security, will be deployed for major musical events at the Fairgrounds.

In Mérida, the Local Council of Seniors will perform the official lighting of the Feria y Fiestas on September 1. This gesture is intended to honor the elderly population's contribution to the city's social and cultural development. The act aims to foster intergenerational connection, symbolizing the passing of traditions from older generations to the youth.
