Spanish Navy launches 16th Madrid Naval Week

The Spanish Navy has launched the 16th edition of the Madrid Naval Week, an eight-day program running until September 26. Under the motto ‘Spain plays its hand at sea. The Navy responds’, the initiative aims to educate the public on maritime security, the importance of freedom of navigation, and the protection of essential economic and communication routes.

Scheduled activities are spread across various locations in Madrid, including El Retiro Park, the Naval Museum, the Navy Headquarters, and the Moncloa Lighthouse. Highlights include Marine Infantry demonstrations and equipment exhibitions in El Retiro, family-oriented activities at the Naval Museum, and a strategic seminar focused on seabed technology and maritime resilience.

A new feature of this year's event is the ‘Vertical Challenge’, which invites participants to climb the Moncloa Lighthouse. The program also includes academic sessions, such as a seminar on astronomical navigation organized by the Royal Institute and Observatory of the Navy.
