Spanish Nutrition Experts Promote Swiss Chard and Oatmeal as Heart‑Healthy Superfoods

The Spanish Nutrition Foundation highlights Swiss chard as a low‑calorie, high‑fiber leafy vegetable rich in vitamins A, C and K and minerals such as potassium, magnesium and iron. It can be boiled, steamed or sautéed and, according to the Cleveland Clinic, may aid weight loss, support eye and heart health, improve insulin resistance and help prevent cancer.

Cardiologist Aurelio Rojas explains that oatmeal is valuable for its soluble fiber beta‑glucan, which reduces intestinal fat absorption, lowers LDL cholesterol, improves triglyceride levels, blood pressure and insulin sensitivity, and can cut diabetes risk by up to 30 %. He advises choosing whole‑grain oat flakes rather than highly processed powders or instant varieties to obtain these benefits.
