Spanish Pharmaceutical Council launches eye health initiative
The General Council of Pharmaceutical Colleges of Spain has launched a new health education initiative titled ‘Farmacia y Salud Ocular’ (Pharmacy and Eye Health). The program, part of the ‘Tu Farmacéutico Informa’ platform, aims to improve public awareness regarding eye care through a series of 12 monthly video advisories.
María Isabel de Andrés, a national spokesperson for the council, emphasized that early detection is critical to preventing irreversible damage, noting that many ocular pathologies develop without obvious symptoms. The campaign seeks to distinguish between visual health, which relates to sight correction, and ocular health, which involves the overall condition of the eye structures. Topics to be covered include digital eye strain from screen use and eyelid hygiene.
