Spanish Police alert against 'curis' social media accounts targeting students and teachers
The Spanish National Police have issued an alert regarding the rise of 'curis'—anonymous social media accounts used to ridicule or humiliate students and teachers. These profiles often use the names, acronyms, or logos of specific schools to share memes, drawings, and videos related to classroom life.
While some content is considered harmless humor, authorities warn that many accounts engage in cyberbullying by targeting individuals through physical mockery, rumors, or derogatory montages. Even when using caricatures or nicknames instead of full names and photos, victims are often easily identifiable to their peers.
Legal experts and police note that these actions can constitute crimes against moral integrity or serious insults, leading to both criminal charges and civil liabilities. In regions like La Rioja, Mallorca, Córdoba, and the Valencian Community, educational authorities and police are already responding to reports. In the Valencian Community, specific protocols have been established to sanction aggressive digital behavior and protect the rights of the educational community.
