Spanish police find man's remains after family lived with body for two years
Catalan police, Mossos d'Esquadra, discovered the remains of a 77-year-old man in a home near Barcelona after he had been dead for at least two years. The man's wife, 59, and daughter, 22, continued to live in the residence with the body during this period.
The discovery in the municipality of Cabrera d'Anoia followed reports from neighbors regarding an overgrown garden, accumulated trash, and a vehicle that had remained stationary for years. Upon entering the property, authorities found the remains in an advanced state of decomposition, covered by a blanket.
The women stated that the man passed away while sitting on a sofa and that they moved him to an adjacent room. They reported that they had remained in complete isolation since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, ordering all necessities online and retrieving packages at night to avoid contact.
While the house was found in poor sanitary condition, initial findings suggest the death was due to natural causes, and there are currently no suspicions of criminal activity. The women were taken to a hospital for medical and psychological support.
