Spanish police probe alleged surrogacy ring linked to 30 Brazilian births in Burgos

Spain's National Police are investigating a possible surrogacy network after about 30 Brazilian women gave birth at Hospital Universitario de Burgos since May. Many of the women reside in Belgium or other northern European countries and all provided the same address and named the same companion, prompting the hospital to alert authorities.

Investigators are examining whether the pattern reflects organised gestational surrogacy or other reproductive exploitation. The police have not yet identified a specific crime. The opposition PSOE in Castilla‑y‑León has demanded explanations from the regional government on how such cases were allowed and what measures are being taken to protect mothers and newborns.
