Spanish Police thwart planned fight between 130 football ultras

Spanish National Police prevented a planned confrontation between approximately 130 ultra supporters from Real Racing Club and Deportivo Alavés in Santander. The incident was intercepted hours before a Primera División match held at El Sardinero stadium.

Authorities had designated the match as high-risk due to historical tensions between the radical groups Juventudes Verdiblancas and Iraultza. Following the establishment of a special security deployment, officers detected two organized groups. Around 60 members of Iraultza were spotted in the Los Castros Avenue area, while approximately 70 members of Juventudes Verdiblancas were located nearby.

Police reported that the groups appeared prepared for violence, with many individuals wearing dark sportswear, balaclavas, mouthguards, gloves, and carrying sticks. The confrontation was reportedly scheduled to take place at La Teja Park.
