Spanish ports Alicante and Vigo announce €300‑plus million investment plans

The Authority Port Authority of Alicante reported that its January‑May 2026 revenue rose 10.8% year‑on‑year, driven by a 21.6% increase in container and cruise‑passenger traffic. Operating profit grew 64% and pre‑tax profit 27.7%, supporting a €274 million public‑private investment programme for 2026‑2030. The 2027 plan includes an $18 million electric‑supply system for docked cruise ships and a new 2,000 m² waste‑handling facility on pier 17.

The Authority Port Authority of Vigo presented a 2030 Enterprise Plan aimed at surpassing six million tonnes of traffic. An investment package of more than €300 million will be deployed, with over €160 million slated for 2027‑2029. Key projects include a €38 million vehicle silo, €12 million modernization of the fishing port, a new naval‑repair base, and a €17 million sustainable Border Control Point designed to double container‑inspection capacity. A €33 million budget is earmarked for decarbonisation and energy‑efficiency initiatives.
