Spanish ports and Mercabarna showcase logistics at Fruit Attraction
Spanish port authorities and logistics hubs are showcasing their capabilities at the Fruit Attraction trade fair in Madrid. Puertos del Estado, alongside 15 port authorities, is presenting the ‘Ports of Spain’ brand to highlight maritime connectivity, cold chain networks, and digitalization for international fruit and vegetable transport.
In 2025, Spanish ports handled 10.26 million tons of fresh produce, with 7.98 million tons moved in the first eight months of 2026. The delegation includes authorities from Alicante, Algeciras, Cádiz, Barcelona, Bilbao, Cartagena, Castellón, Huelva, Las Palmas, Málaga, Motril, Sevilla, Tarragona, Valencia, and Vigo.
Additionally, Mercabarna is collaborating with the Port of Barcelona and the Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers Guild of Barcelona and Province (AGEM) to reinforce the Barcelona Food Unit’s position as a Mediterranean food hub. Mercabarna manages an annual commercial volume of 2.3 million tons of produce, leveraging its strategic proximity to the Port of Barcelona, El Prat Airport, and major highway networks.
