Spanish ports announce major infrastructure investments

The Port Authority of Vigo (APV) has received approval from Puertos del Estado to implement an ambitious investment plan. The budget has been increased from 300 million to approximately 400 million euros over four years. The primary goal is to enhance competitiveness against other European ports by improving the Bouzas maritime terminal, including the construction of a car silo and the extension of ramps for car carriers. The APV aims to reach a cargo movement threshold of six million tons.

In Valencia, the shipping company Baleària has been cleared to proceed with the construction of its own passenger and freight terminal at the Port of Valencia. After a public competition period yielded no competing proposals, the Port Authority of Valencia will move forward with the concession title. This new terminal, located at Muelle Sur, will focus exclusively on ferries and goods rather than cruise ships, following the previous cancellation of a different terminal project intended for better urban integration.
