Spanish Ports Cádiz and Huelva Advance Major Infrastructure Projects

Work has begun on the integration of the Cádiz port with the city, with the first phase of quay paving now under way. The project will transform 22,500 m² of waterfront into a mixed‑use public space featuring pedestrian areas, gardens, playgrounds and facilities for cruise‑ship buses. Port Authority president Teófila Martínez and Mayor Bruno García inspected the site, noting that earlier underground works have been completed and that the pace of construction has accelerated after a rainy winter.

In Huelva, the port completed an expansion of its southern quay railway terminal, adding a third 1,211‑metre track and extending the platform by 15,112 m². The €7.2 million investment, funded by EU recovery funds, enables intermodal freight services that will link Huelva with the north of Spain and Europe, allowing cargo from the Canary Islands and other origins to be loaded onto trains. The upgrade, carried out by Asch Infraestructuras, also modernised safety, signalling, drainage and lighting systems.
