Spain and Honduras advance housing and infrastructure projects

Various regional governments are implementing measures to address housing and infrastructure needs. In Spain, the Junta de Andalucía, through its housing agency Avra, has approved a plan to mobilize public land for the construction of 3,678 new homes across eight provinces. This includes 2,964 protected housing units. Additionally, the municipality of Rivas has approved the bidding of three plots to build over 500 public rental homes with monthly rates between 450 and 900 euros. In the Valencian Community, new aid has been launched to help property owners recover illegally occupied homes and repair damages, with a budget of up to 750,000 euros. Meanwhile, in Madrid, the EMVS is transitioning to a single-provider model for facility management in 24 new affordable rental developments starting in 2027 to improve maintenance efficiency.

In Honduras, the government has activated compulsory expropriation procedures to facilitate the construction of the Libramiento Sur de Tegucigalpa. This eight-kilometer road project aims to alleviate severe traffic congestion affecting over 45,000 vehicles daily. The measure follows a seven-month delay caused by difficulties in securing the necessary right-of-way, though the government guarantees fair compensation to affected property owners.
