Spanish regional groups launch Alzheimer's awareness initiatives

Various regional initiatives in Spain are preparing for World Alzheimer's Day through educational and fundraising events.

In the Alt Penedès region, the organization TIÁM is launching a cinema-based awareness campaign across several municipalities, including Castellví de la Marca, Font-rubí, and La Granada. The initiative uses film, such as the movie ‘Un amigo para Frank’, to help citizens understand the lived realities of those with Alzheimer's and other dementias. The campaign incorporates local collective memories to strengthen community ties and promote empathy.

In Galicia, the Afasal Arousa delegation is organizing a solidarity gala in O Grove on September 12 to raise funds for its support programs. The event will feature various performers and a raffle to benefit families affected by the disease. Additionally, an educational seminar will be held on September 26 in Vilagarcía, featuring presentations by neurologist Manuel Seijo and neuroscientist Carlos Spuch to provide scientific insight into the condition.
