Spanish towns Algaida and Quartell launch 2026 participatory budgeting programs

The Algaida municipality in Spain has opened a new edition of its participatory budgets for 2026, inviting residents aged 16 and over, as well as local organisations, to submit up to three proposals each. Proposals must relate to concrete investments in areas such as health, education, sport, culture, mobility, sustainability and other municipal competencies.

Quartell has also started its 2026‑2027 participatory budgeting cycle, setting aside €6,000 for citizen‑chosen projects. The call for proposals runs from 24 August to 6 September, followed by a public debate on 7 September and a voting period from 14 to 27 September. Submissions can be made online or in person, and the initiative is backed by the Valencian regional government and the Diputació de València, with technical assistance from consultancy Sequoia Pro.
