Spanish towns enhance security for major festivals
The municipality of La Bañeza will strengthen its security arrangements for the Gran Premio de Velocidad motorcycle race and the town’s patron saint celebrations. The local security board has coordinated the deployment of the Guardia Civil, local police, Civil Protection, and private security units, along with a "Punto Violeta" service for gender‑based violence cases. Health services will be expanded through a joint effort with the Red Cross and the Moto Club Bañezano, and the traditional fireworks display has been cancelled because of forest‑fire risk in the region.
In Soto del Real, authorities have organized a similar reinforcement for the upcoming patronal festivities. About 20 local police officers, supported by the Guardia Civil, specialized units, and Civil Protection volunteers, will patrol the streets. Additional measures include licence‑plate‑reading cameras, alcohol‑breath checks, and a secured youth tent with private security. A medicalised ambulance, extra defibrillators and fire‑response vehicles will be on standby to provide rapid emergency care.
