Spanish towns extend tax discounts for residents in Fuengirola and La Laguna
The Fuengirola City Council announced that the voluntary tax‑payment period ends on 20 August. Residents who settle their property (IBI), vehicle (IVTM) and waste taxes before that date can claim a 30 % discount, with an additional 5 % reduction for payments made directly by bank transfer. Payments may be made through the municipal e‑portal, PayPal, in‑person at the revenue office, citizen ATMs or post offices, and the council urges taxpayers to verify they have no outstanding debts before applying.
In La Laguna, the municipal government is offering a 5 % discount to taxpayers who set up automatic bank debits for local obligations, including IBI, IVTM, business tax and various fees. The rebate also applies to the newly introduced waste tax, whose voluntary payment window runs from 1 September to 20 November. Residents who arranged direct debit at least two months before the start of the period will not need to complete any extra formalities, and the council plans to shift the regular payment date for new entrants to 1 April from 2027 onward.
