Spanish towns suspend playgrounds and impose night bans on parks

The municipal playground in Gasteiz has remained closed since March after vandalism damaged several pieces, which the city council says cannot be repaired. New equipment costing at least €80,000 must be purchased before the site can reopen, and officials have discussed using fencing to secure the area during repairs.

In Huelva, the city council announced that the Zafra and Francisco Jiménez parks will be closed at night starting 23 July. The night‑time closures, which will run from 23:00 to 07:00 in summer and 21:00 to 08:00 in winter, aim to improve neighbourhood coexistence and protect the park facilities. Residents are urged to respect the new hours and existing rules on dog leashes, waste disposal and bicycle use.
