Spanish transport sectors face new regulations and tariff adjustments

The Government of Aragon has announced plans to strengthen the regulation of Driver-Owned Vehicles (VTC) through a new interpretative order aimed at increasing legal certainty and improving compliance. Following a meeting with taxi sector representatives, a working commission will be established to finalize this resolution before the end of September. This move follows the implementation of a March 2025 order, which has already resulted in over a thousand sanctioning proceedings and the immobilization of 25 vehicles.

In Cádiz, the City Council has approved a taxi fare increase of approximately 6%, set to take effect on January 1, 2027. The decision, supported by the People's Party and PSOE, aims to help drivers manage rising costs in fuel, maintenance, and insurance. Despite the increase, local officials noted that Cádiz taxi services would remain among the most affordable in Andalusia and Spain.
