Spanish universities and regional governments advance data intelligence initiatives

Academic and governmental institutions in Spain are launching new initiatives to enhance digital transformation and responsible data management.

In Cádiz, the City Council and the University of Cádiz (UCA) are collaborating on the ‘Data Lakehouse’ research project as part of the EDINT initiative. This project, funded by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, aims to improve public services, business competitiveness, and urban innovation through the ‘Data Space for Smart Urban Infrastructures’.

In Castilla-La Mancha, the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) and the regional government have established the Institutional Chair of Data Intelligence. This initiative is part of the Castilla-La Mancha Strategic Data Plan 2026-2030. The chair focuses on training and research in areas such as public statistics, data protection, artificial intelligence, and data governance to promote economic growth and citizen well-being.
