Spanish Universities Report Record Student Enrollments

The Universidad Internacional de Andalucía (UNIA) concluded its summer courses in La Rábida with a historic attendance of about 600 students across 15 activities held from July 7‑23, marking the highest participation ever recorded. Students came from twelve countries, with the largest foreign group from El Salvador, and the program covered topics ranging from green hydrogen and renewable energy to artificial intelligence in education.

Meanwhile, the University of Granada (UGR) announced that 9,045 undergraduate places were filled, covering 80.47% of its offered seats, and total enrolments rose to 9,253 when foreign students are included. Twenty‑one degree programmes reached full capacity, and new courses such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Biomedical Engineering saw strong demand. The university’s vice‑rector Juan Luis Benítez said, "Este aumento de plazas cubiertas con respecto al año pasado refleja el gran interés que suscita la oferta académica de la Universidad de Granada."
