Sparta to receive €2.76 million for urban redevelopment project
The Peloponnese Region has approved a €2.76 million project to extend the urban redevelopment of Konstantinou Paleologou street in Sparta. The project, which covers the section from Othonos Amalias to Ethnikis Antistaseos, is part of the ‘Peloponnese 2021–2027’ program and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
The initiative aims to complete a major urban axis, connecting the previously renovated southern section with residential areas, schools, and local services. The plan covers 8,000 square meters of open urban space and includes the installation of granite cobblestones in traffic lanes, designated parking zones, bicycle paths, upgraded sidewalks, and tactile paving for the visually impaired.
According to Regional Governor Dimitris Ptochis, the project is part of a broader strategy to improve accessibility, increase green spaces, and modernize infrastructure to make Peloponnesian cities more functional and attractive.
