Infrastructure development in Sparta

Overview

The Peloponnese Region is implementing several infrastructure and development projects in Sparta.

In early October 2026, a contract was signed for a 6 million euro school complex, which includes the 6th Primary School and the 7th Kindergarten. Regional Governor Dimitris Ptochos noted that this project is part of a larger regional strategy involving over 30 million euros in educational infrastructure interventions.

Following this, the region approved a 2.76 million euro urban redevelopment project for Konstantinou Paleologou street. Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the ‘Peloponnese 2021–2027’ program, the initiative aims to modernize the urban axis by adding bicycle paths, upgraded sidewalks, parking zones, and tactile paving for the visually impaired.
