Split local elections: HDZ gains ground as independent lists secure key victories

Unofficial results from the local district elections in Split show a mixed landscape where the HDZ-DP coalition strengthened its presence in several areas, while independent lists achieved significant victories.

In Spinut, independent candidate Luka Kovač Levantin secured a dominant victory with nearly 80 percent of the vote. Similarly, Ivica Grubišić Gire maintained his strong position in Sirobuja, winning convincingly with 583 votes. Other notable independent successes include Daniel Lolić in Lokve and Špira Vlajića in Žrnovnica.

The HDZ-DP coalition won in several districts, including Mertojak, Šine, Meje, Žnjan, Sućidru, and Pujanke. In Šine, the coalition retained control following a competitive race. In Trstenik, the coalition of Centar, SDP, Možemo!, and Direkt led the results, while the SDP-led list also saw success in Lučac-Manuš and Gripe.

Some races were decided by extremely narrow margins, such as in Lučac-Manuš, where the difference between the SDP and HDZ was only two votes, and in Žrnovnica, where the independent list beat the HDZ-DP by 18 votes.
