Spoleto celebrates UNESCO recognition and 80 years of Sperimentale

The Teatro Lirico Sperimentale ‘A. Belli’ of Spoleto will host a special event at the Teatro Caio Melisso on October 7 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the institution and the UNESCO recognition of Italian operatic singing as part of the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The program features two one-act works by Marcello Panni: the tragic ‘Hanjo’ and the comic ‘Lo stratagemma dell’avvocato Manigoldi’. ‘Hanjo’, originally composed in 1994 and reimagined in 2016, is inspired by Yukio Mishima’s modern Noh play. ‘Lo stratagemma dell’avvocato Manigoldi’ is a farce based on a 1940 comedy by Bruno Corra.
