Spooky travel destinations highlighted for Halloween

Various travel and paranormal guides have identified several eerie destinations for those interested in the supernatural.

In the United Kingdom, author Peter Naldrett, following the release of his book Spooky Britain, identified 100 areas famed for sinister backstories. Notable locations include the York Treasurer's House, which is reportedly built upon ancient Roman remains and where a plumber allegedly witnessed a Roman soldier in 1953. Other mentioned sites include Edinburgh's ghost tours and Whitby's Dracula experiences.

In Europe, the Chapel of Bones in Evora, Portugal, serves as a monument to human mortality, featuring walls and ceilings adorned with approximately 5,000 human skulls and bones exhumed by Franciscan monks in the 17th century. Additionally, the White Tower in Thessaloniki, Greece, is noted for its history as an Ottoman fortress and prison.
