Sport Club Internacional ordered to pay R$ 16.9 million to Icipar

A Brazilian court has ordered Sport Club Internacional to pay R$ 16.9 million to Icipar Empreendimentos S.A. within 15 days. The ruling, issued by Judge Lucia Helena Camerin of the 14th Civil Court of Porto Alegre, stems from unpaid debts related to the 2008 signing of midfielder Andrés D’Alessandro.

The dispute arose after Internacional allegedly breached a previous judicial agreement. While the club had previously recognized a debt of R$ 18.9 million in 2020, Icipar claims that only the first installment of a 50-month settlement plan—amounting to R$ 150,000—was paid. The current total includes a 10% fine due to the interruption of payments.

Icipar has requested the seizure of the club's financial assets, including bank accounts and revenues from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), the Uruguayan Football Association (FFU), and various sponsors. Internacional has stated it is monitoring the legal proceedings and will take necessary measures to resolve the matter.
