Sport Club Internacional sees membership decline and rising delinquency
Sport Club Internacional has reported a significant decline in its membership base, with the number of members in good standing dropping to 89,687 in June. This represents a decrease of 6,265 members compared to May, when there were 95,952 members with regularized payments.
As a result of fewer members in good standing and an increase in late payments, the club's delinquency rate rose from 28.98% to 31.24% between May and June. The total number of members also fell from 135,112 in May to 130,440 at the end of June, while the number of delinquent members increased from 39,160 to 40,753.
Comparing these figures to June of the previous year shows a broader downward trend. Last year, the club had 147,846 total members, including 111,021 in good standing. The current data shows a total reduction of 17,406 members and a loss of 21,334 members in good standing year-over-year. The decline has been observed across various regions, including Porto Alegre and the interior of Rio Grande do Sul.
