Sporting Kansas City signs André Luiz from Olympiacos in record deal

Sporting Kansas City has officially announced the signing of Brazilian winger André Luiz from Olympiacos in a club-record transfer. The 24-year-old joins the MLS side as a Designated Player, signing a five-year contract that runs through the 2030-2031 season.

The financial terms of the deal involve an initial fee of approximately €16.4 million to €16.5 million, with performance-based bonuses that could increase the total cost to nearly €20 million. Additionally, Olympiacos has secured a 20% sell-on clause for any future transfer.

André Luiz arrives in the United States following successful stints in Europe, notably with Rio Ave in Portugal and Olympiacos in Greece. Sporting Kansas City General Manager David Lee praised the player’s speed, technical ability, and dynamism, noting that his profile aligns with the club’s strategy of acquiring high-quality talent in their prime.
