Sportivo Ameliano rescinds controversial dress code for female media

Paraguayan First Division club Sportivo Ameliano has retracted a controversial dress code policy targeting female media professionals following widespread criticism. The directive, which applied to photographers, journalists, and camera operators, specifically prohibited women from wearing tops or clothing that left the midriff exposed.

Sports photographer Adriana Caballero became a central figure in the controversy, defending her right to wear clothing suited to her professional comfort and expressing concern regarding the precedent such restrictions set for women in sports.

Following the backlash, Ameliano president Héctor Melgarejo clarified that the policy was not authorized by the club's executive office. Melgarejo stated that the directive had been sent to the appropriate department for correction after being implemented by a club official without leadership approval.
