Spotify launches User Notes feature for personal song annotations
Spotify has introduced a new feature called User Notes that lets users aged 16 and older add short personal captions to individual tracks within their playlists. The notes can record why a song was added, where it was first heard, or any memory attached to it. Once saved, the annotation appears beneath the track and links to the author’s public profile, making it visible to anyone who can view the playlist.
The feature is being rolled out gradually in selected markets and is available on both free and premium accounts. Adding a note is done via the three‑dot menu next to a track in a user‑created or user‑edited playlist. Alongside User Notes, Spotify also launched a Running Mode that creates workout‑tailored playlists, initially for premium users in a few countries. User Notes is part of Spotify’s broader push to make music listening more personal and emotionally engaging, moving beyond algorithmic recommendations.
Spotify notes that over time the collection of notes will form a picture of the songs listeners love and the moments that shaped their musical tastes.
