Spotify launches free child accounts with parental controls

Spotify announced a new feature that lets parents create free accounts for children under 13, managed from an existing adult subscription. The child profiles provide curated, age‑appropriate music, block explicit language, and exclude podcasts and video content. Parental‑control tools allow adults to set filters, block specific songs or artists, and monitor listening activity.

The service rolled out initially in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia and the Netherlands, with plans to expand to Canada, additional European nations and South America. Spotify said the launch removes the extra cost previously required for a Family plan, aiming to make a safer, supervised music experience accessible to more households.
