Spotify launches Running Mode with adaptive playlists
Spotify has added a new "Running Mode" to its app, designed to deliver music that matches the phases of a workout. The feature arranges tracks into 25 preset playlists and lets users customize duration, BPM and genre preferences, using AI to align songs with the runner’s pace. Audio cues that mark training intervals are provided in English.
The mode is accessible to Premium subscribers on iOS through the Fitness Hub and is currently available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Sweden. Spotify previously expanded its fitness offering through a partnership with Peloton, and the launch follows Strava’s decision to discontinue direct Spotify integration.
