Spring Creek Solar Farm proposed near Tamworth
A new renewable energy project, the Spring Creek Solar Farm, has been proposed approximately 20km south of Tamworth in the New England region of New South Wales. The development is planned to cover 293 hectares and will include a 120MW solar farm paired with a 360MW battery energy storage system (BESS).
The project, which intends to utilize agrivoltaics by allowing sheep to graze beneath the solar panels, is being developed by BrightPath Renewables and Enertrans Global. BrightPath is an Australian-based developer led by founder Tarek Alsampaile, while Enertrans Global is a newer firm with several projects currently in development across Asia and Australia.
The proposed development timeline includes seeking early investors in July 2026, followed by the delivery of a scoping report in September, and the commencement of an environmental impact assessment in December.
