Spring Creek Solar Farm proposal near Tamworth
Overview
BrightPath Renewables and Enertrans Global have proposed the Spring Creek Solar Farm near Tamworth in New South Wales. The project is planned to cover 293 hectares and feature a 120MW solar farm integrated with a 360MW battery energy storage system (BESS). The developers intend to utilize agrivoltaics, allowing sheep to graze beneath the solar panels.
Project representative Tarek Alsampaile stated the site was chosen for its flat terrain, proximity to a main road, and existing grid connectivity. An option agreement has been established with the current landholder, allowing the project to move through the permitting phase. The development timeline includes a scoping report in September and the start of an environmental impact assessment in December.
