Spritz becomes France's most ordered cocktail, overtaking Mojito
The Spritz has become the most ordered cocktail in France during the summer of 2025, overtaking the Mojito in sales across cafes, hotels, and restaurants.
A market study by NielsenIQ and Fyre, covering over 5,000 establishments in May 2025, revealed that the Spritz accounted for approximately 24.2% of cocktail revenue. This surpassed the Mojito, which held 18.2%, and the Kir, which stood at 10.5%.
While surveys suggest the Mojito remains a favorite in terms of consumer preference—with 40% of respondents citing it as a preferred choice—the Spritz's dominance in actual transactions is attributed to its composition and ease of service. The cocktail, made from Prosecco, an orange bitter liqueur like Aperol or Campari, and sparkling water, is viewed as a lighter, sweeter-bitter option that requires less preparation than rum-based drinks.
