Spuž residents report improper disposal of pig carcasses at Voli farm
Residents of Spuž and Danilovgrad have reported the improper disposal of dead pigs at the ‘Naša farma’ farm, which is owned by the company Voli. According to reports and drone photography taken on October 11, the carcasses were not buried but were instead left in the open, covered only by white powder—likely lime—and metal sheets, without a layer of soil.
Local citizens expressed concerns regarding the unknown cause of the animals' deaths and the potential risk of infectious diseases. They warned that the current method of disposal could allow rodents, insects, and dogs to access the remains, and could lead to the leakage of fluids into the soil and groundwater, potentially contaminating the Zeta River and the Bjelopavlić plain.
A formal complaint has been submitted to the Danilovgrad Municipality, the Ministry of Ecology, and the Food Safety, Veterinary, and Phytosanitary Administration. Residents are calling for urgent inspections, sampling, and an investigation into the cause of death, noting that regulations typically require such waste to be incinerated or buried under at least one meter of soil.
