Square Enix reveals new details for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World

Square Enix has released a new trailer for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World, introducing the antagonist Thespidor. Described as the ‘misdirector’ of the Tragedian Players and the ‘showrunner of the darkness below,’ the clown-like villain is central to the game's conflict.

The story follows protagonists Bianca and Nera as they journey to the Kingdom of Witherwood to find the fabled Leaves of Life to heal their sick fathers. Along the way, they will encounter over 500 monsters that players can befriend, battle with, or synthesize to create new creatures.

A new gameplay activity called Wrangler’s Gauntlet was also revealed, where players face consecutive monster teams to earn points for rewards such as various monster eggs. The game is scheduled for release on December 3 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch platforms, including the Nintendo Switch 2.
