Square Enix reveals new gameplay details for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World

Square Enix has released new gameplay details and screenshots for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World. This fourth major content announcement introduces the ‘Quick Scouting’ feature, which allows players to recruit wild monsters by offering them meat in the field, bypassing the need for traditional combat. Additionally, the ‘Scout Run’ feature at the Witherwood paddock will provide access to rarer monsters later in the game.

New combat mechanics include ‘Joint Battles,’ where protagonists Bianca and Nera combine forces under shared HP and MP gauges to face massive enemies. This mode can be played in a battle arena or online with up to four players. The update also reveals story elements regarding the disappearance of Almira, the guardian of Witherwood, and introduces new monsters such as Hammerhood, See slug, and a Panda pilgrim.

The game is scheduled for release on December 3, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
