Squishy Dumplings toys flagged as toxic across Europe

The soft, colorful Squishy Dumplings toys that have gone viral on TikTok are being warned as hazardous in several European countries. Consumer‑protection inspectors in Glasgow seized about 5,900 counterfeit units after tests revealed the presence of hazardous chemicals such as benzene and phthalates. Similar recalls have been carried out in Belgium and the Netherlands, and Romanian health officials have issued alerts about the same risks.

Medical experts say repeated exposure to these substances can cause skin and mucous‑membrane irritation, hormonal disruption, potential fertility problems and an increased long‑term cancer risk. Parents are urged to verify the CE mark, manufacturer details and age recommendations, and to avoid toys that are unusually cheap, lack packaging or emit a strong gasoline smell.
