Srebrenica genocide denial and glorification of war criminals spark political outcry
Political figures and organizations are raising alarms regarding the glorification of war criminals and the denial of the Srebrenica genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
Duška Jurišić and Dragan Mioković visited the Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial Center to honor victims and support survivors. They emphasized that the fight against genocide continues through the struggle against those who attempt to rehabilitate or celebrate its perpetrators, specifically following recent reactions to the death of Ratko Mladić.
The Party of Democratic Action (SDA) has called on the European Union to condition Serbia’s integration and access to funds on its stance toward genocide denial. The SDA criticized political leaders in the Republika Srpska and Belgrade for fostering an environment that celebrates war criminals. They also called for an immediate ban on an upcoming gathering in Srebrenica that uses rhetoric associated with the 1995 genocide and urged the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina to prosecute those glorifying war crimes.
