Srebrenica Memorial Center files UEFA complaint against Serbian Football Association

The Srebrenica Memorial Center has filed a formal complaint with UEFA against the Football Association of Serbia (FSS). The action follows an incident during the derby match between Red Star Belgrade and Partizan, where fans displayed an image of Ratko Mladić alongside the message ‘Pravac Potočari’ (Direction: Potočari).

The Memorial Center argues that the FSS failed to adequately address the glorification of an individual convicted of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. While the FSS sanctioned Red Star Belgrade for organizational failures, inadequate fan searches, delays, and the use of pyrotechnics, the Center claims the disciplinary decision did not treat the display of Mladić and the specific message as a separate disciplinary offense.

The complaint requests that UEFA investigate whether the FSS properly processed the case under anti-discrimination regulations and UEFA standards. The Center emphasized that sanctions for pyrotechnics or organizational lapses should not replace investigations into symbols and messages directly linked to the Srebrenica genocide.
