Srebrenica Memorial Center initiates cooperation with Ukrainian institutions

Representatives from the Srebrenica Memorial Center and Ukrainian institutions have initiated a long-term cooperation focused on memorialization, education, and the documentation of war crimes. This marks the first official working visit by a representative of the Srebrenica Memorial Center to Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion.

Nedim Jahić, an advisor for program and initiative development at the Srebrenica Memorial Center, met with various Ukrainian organizations, including the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory and the Office of the Ombudsman. The discussions centered on exchanging expertise regarding memory politics, human rights, and establishing accountability.

The visit included meetings at the Holodomor National Museum and the Babi Yar Holocaust Memorial Center to discuss approaches to museum work, archival research, and the presentation of victims' experiences to the public. The partnership aims to leverage Bosnia and Herzegovina’s experience in institutionalizing a culture of remembrance following conflict, while learning from Ukraine’s real-time documentation of crimes occurring during the ongoing war.
