Sree Charani sets record ICC Women’s T20I bowling rating
Indian left-arm spinner Sree Charani has set a new record for the highest-ever rating in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings. Reaching a career-best 817 points, Charani surpassed the previous record of 806 points held by Australia’s Megan Schutt since November 2018.
Charani’s record-breaking ascent follows significant performances in recent international competitions. During the Asia Cup, she claimed 12 wickets, including 4/20 in the final against Sri Lanka to help India secure its eighth title. At the Asian Games in Japan, she recorded career-best figures of 4/10 against the host nation and took two wickets in the gold-medal match against Sri Lanka, which India won by 147 runs.
Other notable shifts in the rankings include India’s Deepti Sharma rising to second place with 754 points, and England’s Sophie Ecclestone sitting third with 723 points. In the batting rankings, India’s Smriti Mandhana returned to the top five following a score of 79 in the Asian Games final.
